They do what they're designed to do.

"I live in an area with abundant 12+ degree clibs/descents. After temporarily warping the stock shimano rotors on my Canyon road bike on a steep descent, I'd lost confidence in that system. It is more or less Shimano 105 components. I went to Mike's and talked to the mechanic and (basically price not a factor) we agreed to swap my stock rotor and pad setup with MTX Gold pads and SRAM HS2 rotors. I'm 180 lbs and will encounter occasional 15 minute avg 8+ degree twisty descents. Under normal circumstances this new setup is definitely noisy, squeaking much more often and sometimes vibrating (I alternate front/back and work around it as much as I can). However, when I'm descending in places where there have been cyclist fatalities from people failing to negotiate turns, this pad/rotor setup totally shows up. Under these circumstances, they actually seem to quiet down, low/no vibration, and they're leaving me to focus my attention on the descent and I don't have to pay attention to if/when I'll have brake fade or rotor warping. I'm fine with the trade since I'm primarily trying not to crash and break my wrists and body on steep downhills, and I can take the slight embarassment of noisy pads in town."
