The All-New

SWITCHBLADE

THE DO-IT-ALL TRAIL BIKE

Born in the early 2000s, the Switchblade, initially designed by Pivoit founder Chris Cocalis for the Titus brand, was crafted with the ambition to reign as the ultimate do-it-all trail bike of its time. Fast forward, and while the entire sport of mountain biking has changed, the core values of the Switchblade remain the same.

The Switchblade has grown into one of the most capable trail bikes available. It balances weight with pedaling performance and stability with the maneuverability expected from a trail bike (not an enduro rig). It is a bike built to be playful and fun and geared toward riders who like to push their limits on the trails.

It is also one of the most tuneable, adjustable, and swapable bikes we care about, with the ability to adjust its geo with a flip-chip, switch from MX to 29" wheels, or cram nearly any style of shock into the frame from coil to electronic damping.

WHO IS THE RIDER?

Like all riders who find their way to Pivot, Switchblade riders are looking for a bike that is tunable to how they want to ride. It's a bike that prioritizes the rider's individuality with the ability to run any suspension, any wheel size, or adjust the geo on the fly.

The Switchblade is perfect for the rider who wants to test their limits on the trail but doesn't want to lug around a long 160mm travel Enduro bike. It's the perfect ride for someone who is comfortable with the bike feeling loose underneath them and for someone who knows when it's best to close your eyes and just hope that the bike is designed as well as the engineers say it is.

WHAT WE LOVE

The Switchblade doesn't specialize in just one terrain; it shines across the board, whether it's navigating singletrack or conquering a bike park, flowing smoothly or tackling rough terrain, ascending challenging pain cave climbs or descending with full-gas.

DW-LINK

Great pedal platform paired with incredible square edge bump performance so you keep your speed high all the time.

Progressive Geometry

A nice and roomy cockpit with a slack headtube and steep seat tube. The true mark of a modern trail bike.

Fits All Sizes

From 4'11 to 6'5"+ the Switchblade can fit more riders than nearly any other platform.

FULL FEATURED

We can't list them all well... we could, but if If they don't convince you to order the all-new Switchblade or visit our stores to experience it firsthand, we're not sure what will!

DW Link Suspension & Vertical Shock Layout

The beating heart of the Switchblade relies on the DW Link Suspension design. Knowing for its incredible pedaling efficiency, square edge bump compliance, and fully active rear brakes, it helps ensure the bike is predictable on any terrain.

The DW-Link design uses two counter-rotating links that allow for the ability to tune the bike's rear wheel path to control how it will react to the rider's acceleration inputs (aka how the bike bobs when the rider is pedaling) or to the trail's features (when you run out of talent and hit a giant rock) independently. While it's definitely above our pay grade to tell you how suspension kinematics are designed, trust us; it works.

The vertical shock layout was introduced in the last version of the Switchblade V5 (2020) and helped provide a more compact linkage for stiffer and lighter rocker arms. In addition to its compact design, it allows the rider to run virtually any rear shock they can imagine, with room for coils and electronic suspension like LiveValve. The vertical position also helps reduce the bike's standover height and makes room for a full-size water bottle inside the frame, even the XS frame.

Adjustability

Flip Chip Geometry: With one of the easiest-to-use flip-chips in the game, you can adjust it mid-ride. Simply back off the bolt, rotate the hardware, and tighten it back into its new position without removing it from the bike. Yeah, that means you won't lose any pieces in your garage or on the trail while you fiddling with it. The high BB setting will raise the bottom bracket and steepen the head angle by .5°, making a meaningful change to how the bike tackles terrain.

MX/29" wheels: You can also tune the ride to accommodate 29" or MX wheels better. Switching the bike into the low setting helps keep the BB low on taller 29" wheels and keeps the front end feeling slack for square edge hits.

Progressive Geometry

A lot has changed in the Switchblade's geometry with a more extended reach, slacker head angle, steeper seat tube angle, and size-specific chainstay lengths. It also gets longer insertion depths for longer travel dropper posts.

The Switchblade features size-specific tubing with individual frame layups customized and tested for unique strength and weight considerations based on each frame's expected rider weight and size. In simpler terms, it doesn't matter what size you ride; it will feel right at home.

In typical Pivot style, the Switchblade gets Super Boost wheel spacing (157+), which helps tuck the rear wheel into the back of the bike while maintaining tire clearance for 29x2.6" or 27.5x2.8" and keeping the chainstay manageable.

Add-On Tools

Despite many brands incorporating internal storage compartments into their bikes, Pivot says no. The priority to maintain the absolute best riding bike leads them to avoid unnecessary frame alterations just for the sake of hiding a burrito. Instead, they've collaborated with Topeak to ensure convenient access to tools and flat storage, which can be securely bolted directly onto the frame.

FRAME SIZING

If you're on the cusp between the recommended height range of two sizes, the absolute best thing is to try to ride them both. At a minimum, check the stack/reach measurements on your current bike and compare it to the new model you are looking at to get an idea of a fit you are already comfortable with. If riding the bike is not an option, our Customer Service can help you identify a size more specific to your body type. Call us at (866) 600-BIKE.

The Switchblade is available in sizes S - XL.

FRAME GEOMETRY

The Switchblade features very progressive long reach geometry with both short seat tube and head tube measurements per size. This means you have more space on the bike to move around. The geometry is designed to enable riders to go up or down a size, depending on riding-style, reach and stem length preferences.
