Specialized is obsessed with making the best bikes possible. Once they create the best, they imediately go back to work to create the next evolution to push it even further. That is what they have done with the 2015 S-Works Tarmac. It uses Specialized's FACT 11r-carbon in the frame and fork for phenomenal stiffness and remarkably low weight. In front, they've integrated the down-, top-, and head-tube junctions into a "King Cobra" shaped tapered head tube that's supremely stiff for rocketing up climbs, diving into corners and sprinting for the line. A one-piece BB/chainstay also trims weight while improving the all-important drivetrain stiffness, proving that it's all in the details. So, if you climb like Tour champ Alberto Contador or are a sprinter like Mark Cavendish, you can win just like these stars on the SL4.
Our Custom Builder is your opportunity to build the bike of your dreams. Tired of trying to find a stock build that has exactly what you want on it? They seldom do. In many cases, when you want to do a custom build, you see very high prices as you have to get each component individually. That is not the case here. We have designed our builder to give you a package deal when you build your bike. Simply go through the options in the drop down menus and choose your desired parts. If you are looking for a particular part and don't see it as an option, contact us and we will work it out for you.
Step 1 is choosing your frame size. Do you know what size frame you will need? If not, give us a call or shoot us an email and we will be happy to help you figure it out.
Steps 02-05 are for Components/Drivetrain. There may be some compatibility problems depending on which component spec you are looking to use. In the event that there is a compatibility issue, we will contact you and work it out.
Steps 06-10 are for choosing your handlebar and stem options as well as their lengths and widths. If you have questions about what handlebar width or stem length you will need, again, we are happy to help figure it out. Also, this is where you will be choosing which handlebar tape you would like.
Step 11 is where you will choose your seatpost. While most frames come with seatpost, you may decide you would like to use something different. If you would like to run something different, select it from the drop down menu. If you would like to use the post that comes with the frame, at the bottom of the drop down menus, there is an option to opt out of an aftermarket seatpost.
Step 12 is where you choose your saddle. We have a number of great saddles as options. As you may already know, a saddle can make or break your ride. It is important to get the right one for for you.
Step 13 and 14 are where you choose your wheels and tires. Tires will come as a set. Simply select which tire you would like, and you will have two of those on your bike. We realize that some people already have a wheelset set aside for the bike they would like to build. If you do, you can select to opt out of a wheelset and tires and the bottom of both drop down menus.
Steps 15-18 are where you can add accessories to your bike that also get included in the package pricing of your custom built bike. They are things that you will likely need with your bike so getting them now will save you some money in the long run. The water bottle cages and water bottles come in pairs. Select which you would like and you will receive two of them. However, if you do not want or need any of them, you don't have to get any of them. Select what you want. For the ones you don't want, at the bottom of the drop down menu you can say you do not need that accessory.
Step 19 and 20 are extra services the we offer to our customers. Our 5 Year Maintenance Plan is the perfect war to make sure your bike is in perfect running order, like it should be. For a one time cost of $150 you can bring your bike in to any Mike's Bikes location for free tune ups as well as many other labor services. With all of our custom build bikes, we gather the necessary parts for your build and actually assemble the bike to make sure that everything you select is in perfect working condition and there are no problems that need to be addressed. If your bike is being picked up at one of our stores, you will be able to pick it up assembled and ready to ride. If we will be shipping your bike, after it has been assembled and inspected, we will then break the bike back down and re-box it for shipping. We remove the wheels, handlebars, seat and seatpost (if applicable), the chain so it does not scratch anything, the rear derailleur and hanger to protect against any possible damage during shipping, and pedals (if applicable). Everything is secured and held in place within the box to protect it on its journey to you.
