Our Custom Builder is your opportunity to build the bike of your dreams. Tired of trying to find a stock build that has exactly what you want on it? They seldom do. In many cases, when you want to do a custom build, you see very high prices as you have to get each component individually. That is not the case here. We have designed our builder to give you a package deal when you build your bike.
We realize that there is a lot to building a custom mountain bike, from compatibility issues to variations. We have done our best to make it as easy as possible for you. Simply go through the options in the drop down menus and choose your desired parts and accessories. If you are looking for a particular part and don't see it as an option, contact us and we will work it out for you.
Step 1: Frame Size - Do you know what size frame you will need? If not, give us a call at (866) 600-2453 or shoot us an email and we will be happy to help you figure it out.
Step 2: Fork - Suspension forks come in a wide range of options. The options given in this builder have been narrowed down to what this frame has been designed around using. No need to worry if you are choosing an option with too little or too much travel for your bike. These options will work perfectly for you.
Stepa 3 & 4: Brakes - Choose the front and rear brake that you would like to use. They have been broken up into front and rear so you can select different rotor sizes. If different rotor sizes are something you would like to do, just as a reminder, go bigger on the front as that is where most of your stopping power comes from.
Steps 5-11: Drivetrain - On mountain bikes, there are a number of different options you can go with. The newest bikes are offering 1x11 speed or a 2x10 speed drivetrains. Gone are the days of the triple chainring in front as there is just no need for them. You can get the same ratios a triple offers with the 1x and 2x systems. For that reason we have limited the builder to offer only 1x and 2x options. If you are building a 1x drivetrain, on the Front Derailleur drop down, select the "Not Applicable" option at the top of the list. If you have any question about compatibility between any of the options, please reach out to us. In the event that there is a compatibility issue between components that we find after you have submitted your order, we will contact you and work them out.
Steps 12-15: Stem, Handlebar & Grips - Choose your desired stem, stem length, handlebar and Grip.
Steps 16 & 17: Seatpost & Saddle - The Seatpost options have been narrowed down to what will fit this frame. The saddles offered are what we have found to be the most popular options in our stores. Should there be a seatpost or a saddle that you would like that are not in the list of options, please give us a call at (866) 600-2453 or send us an email and we can see what we can do about adding it for you.
Steps 18-20: Wheels and Tires - Choose your desired wheels and tires. Some wheel options, specifically ENVE and Industry Nine (I9) have extra color options that we were not able to list in the builder due to space restrictions. On wheelsets that have this extra color option, a note has been added for you to enter the color or colors you would like in the comments section during checkout. Should the color you want not be available, we will contact you with the available options. Otherwise, we will get you the color(s) you specified.
Steps 21 & 22: Accessories - Common items purchased with a new bike like pedals and a computer are here for you to choose and get a discount on. However, if you do not want or need any of them, you don't have to get any of them. Select what you want. For the ones you don't want, at the bottom of the drop down menu you can say you do not need that accessory.
Steps 23 & 24: Maintenance and BG Fit - Our 5 Year Maintenance Plan is the perfect war to make sure your bike is in perfect running order, like it should be. For a one time cost of $150 you can bring your bike in to any Mike's Bikes location for free tune ups as well as many other labor services. For a complete list of what is included with the maintenance plan, you can read all about it by clicking here.
BG Fit by Mike's Bikes is a service that we offer, that you cannot just go anywhere to get. Our Master fit technicians have spent countless hours studying in the shop, on their own time, and at Specialized Bicycle University Fit School. When we say they are the best out there, you can believe it. Anyone who rides knows how important being fit to your bike is. Even if you are new to riding, it is something you learn quickly. While BG Fit is something that we offer to anyone, regardless of if they got their bike from us, when you do get your bike from us, you get a $50 discount on the fit you would like to do. With all of our custom build bikes, we gather the necessary parts for your build and actually assemble the bike to make sure that everything you select is in perfect working condition and there are no problems that need to be addressed. If your bike is being picked up at one of our stores, you will be able to pick it up assembled and ready to ride. If we will be shipping your bike, after it has been assembled and inspected, we will then break the bike back down and re-box it for shipping. We remove the wheels, handlebars, seat and seatpost (if applicable), the chain so it does not scratch anything, the rear derailleur and hanger to protect against any possible damage during shipping, and pedals (if applicable). Everything is secured and held in place within the box to protect it on its journey to you.
