In cyclocross, every detail matters. Raleigh's RXC Pro gets it right in the weight, speed, and most importantly, geometry categories. Its carbon frame and superlight ENVE carbon fork have all the necessary attributes to elevate your race resumé, including a flat top tube for easy shouldering, ride-smoothing seatstays, and a stiff PF30 bottom bracket area that turns every bit of power into forward motion. Between you and the ground are 38mm-deep aero Cole carbon clincher wheels with Vittoria tires that accelerate quickly out of corners. For the drivetrain, the Pro has SRAM Rival and Red components with FSA cranks, all of which are renown for their spot-on operation in the dirt. Finally, Avid rounds out the build with their ubiquitous Shorty Ultimate brakes, and Raleigh's American-style 'cross geometry suits the races you do.
For increased stiffness and improved steering precision, tapered head tubes (see image, on left) and forks pair an oversize lower steerer tube (usually 1 1/2-inch, see image, on right) with a standard diameter upper steerer tube (usually 1 1/8-inch). This combination sheds weight compared to straight 1 1/2-inch systems, and adds stability and stiffness when compared to straight 1 1/8-inch systems. The result is a bike that tracks better through corners while allowing for the use of standard stems.
