The All-New

Heckler SL

POWER TO WEIGHT CHAMPION.

E-bikes are evolving; the once heavy and sluggish sleds that started the trend have faded away, and in their place is a new, lighter, faster, and even more powerful contender.

The new Santa Cruz Heckler SL answers, "What about this ride?" with "I hope you can keep up." It is the evolution of the e-bike in its purest form, delivering a class-leading lightweight package with class-leading power and range. Thanks to the use of the Fazua Ride 60nm frictionless motor and an integrated 430wh battery, the Heckler SL can achieve the same range as a full-power e-bike with 630wh batteries in a package, tipping the scales at a scant 40lbs.

For those of us who have ridden a full-power e-bike, we know that the weight has its pluses and minuses. The added weight of a full-power Heckler means it can plow through rough terrain without a blink of an eye. It can use that weight to carry momentum on technical downhills without getting thrown off its line, and on the uphills, it is powerful enough to motor to the top of even the steepest terrain without breaking a sweat. The downside to full-power e-bikes comes in with a different ride style. The light and fast handling of an acoustic bike is so hard to replicate when you've got an extra 20lbs.

WHO IS THE RIDER?

The Heckler SL offers the broadest range of ride styles on any e-bike. From those curious about a little extra power to those looking to get the maximum performance from their ride, the Heckler SL has you covered.

For those curious about e-bikes but uncertain they're ready to go "Full e-bike" (...Never go full e-bike), the Heckler SL has a subtle styling that makes it hard to tell if it even has a motor on board. It's perfect for someone looking to get an extra boost but wants to avoid hauling around the excess weight of a full-power bike. On top of that, the Heckler SL's frictionless motor and light weight help make the experience feel much closer to that of a traditional mountain bike than anything before it.

For those riders looking for a bike to match their performance, the Heckler SL has class-leading power that beats out rivals from Specialized and Trek. The Heckler SL also has a battery big enough to keep up with full-power e-bikes on all-day excursions.

WHAT WE LOVE.

The Heckler SL is packed with new features, but here is what we think helps it stand out compared to the other e-bikes we offer.

Lightweight

The Fazua Ride60 is remarkably compact and stealthy, making it lighter than full-power motors found in other e-bike setups. Tipping the scales at just 41 lbs, the Heckler SL is lightest e-bike we currently carry in stores.

Best In Class Power & Range

Sporting a robust torque of up to 60Nm and a 430wh battery, the Heckler SL has a more powerful motor and extended range compared to other lightweight offerings from Trek and Specialized.

MX Wheels

Known for the best handling bikes around, the 29" front wheel helps you keep your momentum and get over trail obstacles with ease while the tight rear end of the bike makes fast work of technical lines and quick transitions.

FEATURES.

Packed full of features, the Heckler SL is a bike built to deliver a ride that seamlessly transitions between the familiarity of traditional handling and the exhilaration of an e-bike's added punch. Explore the key features that enhance the Heckler SL's riding experience below.

Fazua Ride 60Nm Motor

The beating heart of the Heckler SL is the Fazua Ride 60 compact mid-drive motor. Packing in a class-leading 60Nm of torque into a package small enough to be confused with a standard non-electric bike, the Ride 60 motor can propel the Heckler SL over any terrain. Paired with the top tube-mounted display and handlebar-mounted ring controller, you can easily swap between drive modes and see your available range without taking your hands from the bar.

Offering three levels of assistance and an additional "Boost" mode that offers up to 450watts of auxiliary power (if you don't speak watts... this is A LOT of extra power), you'll be able to easily climb up the steepest hills or toggle between modes to help increase range when you don't need full power. Want to customize your rider even further? Paired with the Fazua App to customize the motor's performance, including the amount of assistance on tap and how quickly that power is applied.

Battery

Powering the Heckler SL is an integrated 430wh battery; That is 20% larger than Trek's offering on the Fuel EXe and 35% larger than the Specialized Levo SL. With the Heckler SL's compact form and no latches, it remains virtually hidden within the frame's downtube. Like with the Fazua Ride 60's motor controls, you can also fine-tune the battery's performance with the app to ensure you'll always have the needed range regardless of your ride's length. Need to recharge? The battery can go from 0% to full charge in only 3.5 hours, so you'll always have time to top up before your next ride.

VVP Suspension

Santa Cruz has always been known for their expertise in suspension design. Using a VPP (Variable Pivot Point) design, the Hecker SL stays true to the traditional Santa Cruz suspension philosophy. Like the standard full-power Heckler (and Hightower), the Heckler SL uses 150mm of travel in the rear pair with a 160mm fork.

Progressive Geometry

Santa Cruz has been leading the way in updating all of their platforms to a more progressive geometry. Fundamentally, this means that Santa Cruz has tried to create a roomy cockpit with predictable and stable handling. While this is the first generation of the Heckler SL, they have achieved this by extending the bike's reach, lengthening the wheelbase, and slackening the bike's HT angle compared to bikes from a few years ago. These changes help make it more stable at speed and over rough terrain. To help keep the bike's agility snappy, Santa Cruz has shortened the rear center (chainstays) and fitted an MX wheelset (27.5" rear wheel with a 29" front wheel). This allows the bike's front end to carry over large bumps while keeping the back end short to help maneuver through technical corners.

FRAME SIZING

If you're on the cusp between the recommended height range of two sizes, the absolute best thing is to try to ride them both. At a minimum, check the stack/reach measurements on your current bike and compare it to the new model you are looking at to get an idea of a fit you are already comfortable with. If riding the bike is not an option, our Customer Service can help you identify a size more specific to your body type. Call us at (866) 600-BIKE.

The Heckler SL is available in sizes S - XXL.

Body Dimension

Not all bodies at a given height are the same. If you have longer legs and a shorter torso than the average person your height, that may push you towards the smaller of the recommended sizes. If you're all torso and arms, most likely you'll want to size up.
